Gretchen Lewis grew up in the rural foothills of Northern California, where she spent a lot of time reading, talking to animals, and wandering around in the woods earnestly searching for fairies or the secret portal to some other world (as promised to weird quiet kids like her in books like Alice in Wonderland or the Chronicles of Narnia). When she wasn’t doing these things, she was drawing, or painting, or otherwise creating something. Gretchen now lives in Sacramento, California, where she works as a painter and freelance illustrator.
